Biological Terrain Analysis

What is Biological Terrain Analysis?

The Famous 19th Century physiologist, Professor Claude Bernard, believed that the environment of the cell, which he termed the ‘Milieu Interieur’, determines the cells function and integrity.

The human body is a miracle in operation that reflects many events happening at many levels incorporating principles of chemistry, biology, electromagnetism, quantum physics and more. Understanding these principles and their extended application to our wellbeing will be paramount to the health practitioner of the future.

A basic precept of natural health care embraced for centuries is that dis-ease and ill health manifest when core homeostatic control mechanisms are out of balance.

Part of the Bio Terrain Analysis carried out is based on the work of French Professor Louis Claude Vincent and assesses the internal ‘milieu’ with quantitative measurements of pH, Redox potential and resistivity. (aka Classic BEV or Bio Electronique Vincent )

- pH                  Acid / Alkaline balance – Digestion and absorption of foods and nutrients, activation of enzymes, the binding of hormones with their receptor sites and many other biological processes in the body are pH dependant for optimum function.

- ORP               Oxidation Reduction Potential – or Redox measurement provides information regarding the level of electrons in the biological fluid. This gives an indication towards energy production and free radical activity within the body.

- Resistivity       Measures electrolyte / mineral levels in the body. When fluids become congested with too many minerals ( salts ) stagnation can develop with flow and cell function issues. If there are too few minerals, demineralisation can occur – impacting enzyme activation, bone and muscle development.

The Bio Terrain Analysis ( BTA ) also incorporates the methodologies of Dr Carey Reams from his biological theory of ionisation, which again is used to help define the balance of the body by using the 2 body fluids, which are the most accessible – urine and saliva.

The analysis continues with the research of Dr Emmanuel Revici with the ability to define the fatty acid ( soft fat ) and sterol ( hard fat ) balance and the related anabolic / catabolic states, which in turn directly  relates to cell membrane permeability.

The final piece of the jigsaw in creating the clients overall ‘metabolic map’ stems from the original work of Dr George Watson and Harold Kristal. The influence of the autonomic nervous system (sympathetic or parasympathetic dominance) and how an individual’s cells are producing energy – either by burning fat & protein (slow oxidiser) or carbohydrates (fast oxidiser). We are all biochemically individual.

This dynamic form of biochemic biofeedback helps uncover the underlying cause or causes of an individual’s imbalance or illness, rather than treating a list of symptoms. For more information on Bio Terrain Analysis / Biochemic biofeedback Visit

“The cell is immortal; it is merely the fluid in which it floats that degenerates. Renew this fluid at intervals, give the cells what they require for nutrition and as far as we know, the pulsation of life may go on forever”
